Shri Mingma Norbu Sherpa: First Sherpa Cabinet Minister in Sikkim

Shri Mingma Norbu Sherpa holds the distinction of being the very first Cabinet Minister hailing from the Sherpa community in the state of Sikkim. His historic election to the Sikkim Legislative Assembly in the 2019 Sikkim Legislative Assembly election marked a significant milestone in the state's political landscape. In the year 2019, Shri Mingma Norbu Sherpa earned the trust and votes of the people to become a Member of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly, representing the esteemed Daramdin Constituency (BL). He contested the election as a proud member of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha, a dynamic political party under the leadership of Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay). Today, Shri Mingma Norbu Sherpa serves the people of Sikkim as a Cabinet Minister, holding two significant portfolios: the Power Department and the Transport Department under the Sikkim Government. His leadership and dedication in these vital areas reflect his commitment to progress, development, and the betterment of the state.
