MINGMA NORBU SHERPA, Hon'ble Speaker

Hon'ble member of Sikkim Legislative Member Shri Mingma Norbu Sherpa elected as the First SPEAKER from the Sherpa Community. Shri M. N. Sherpa has continually demonstrated his commitment to public service and the welfare of our community. He has also set a historic record by becoming the First Cabinet Minister from the Sherpa Community in the first SKM Government in 2019. His new role as Speaker further solidifies his legacy and our community’s growing influence in Sikkim’s political landscape.

MINGMA T. SHERPA, IAS Secretary

Shri Mingma T Sherpa currently serving as Secretary Urban Development Department Government of Sikkim was born in Thangsing, Bermiok South Sikkim in the year 1967 in the family of Shri Passang D Sherpa and Smt Phurphuti Sherpa. He is M A (History) and is Alumni of IIM, Ahmedabad, University of West London and Sydney Institute of Technology and has also undertaken tailored made training in MASHAV Israel. He joined State Civil Service in the year 1991 through direct recruitment process and thereafter shouldered various important responsibilities, namely; Sub Divisional Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, Joint Secretary, Technical Education, Managing Director DACS Ltd, Director School Education, Special Secretary, Urban, Secretary, Education and Horticulture before taking over as Secretary, Urban on 9th August 2021. He was inducted into IAS on 7th January 2022 with allotment year of 2011. He has in his credit varied working experiences and have displayed deep commitment towards development of the state. During his tenure as Managing Director, the DACS Ltd. a sick unit had seen a great transformation with expansion of business and becoming a profit-making enterprise.

CHUNGDA SHERPA

International Archer

Chungda Sherpa is a distinguished International Archer who originates from Namchi, South Sikkim. His accomplishments in the field of archery have brought both recognition and pride to his hometown and the nation. Notably, he is also an Asian Individual Compound Champion. His proficiency in archery is highlighted by his impressive qualification score of 689 in the compound men's category. Chungda Sherpa has contributed to the development of archery in India not only as an athlete but also as a coach. In the year 2016-17, he took on the role of a coach for the Indian National Archery Team. This dual role of athlete and coach demonstrates his deep understanding of the sport and his willingness to share his knowledge and expertise with fellow archers.

KAZI SHERPA

Everester

Kazi Sherpa is an accomplished mountaineer with a remarkable list of achievements in the world of climbing. His most notable accomplishments include scaling the world's highest peak, Mount Everest, on two separate occasions – first on May 19, 2012, and then again in May21, 2013. His successful summiting of this formidable peak showcases his exceptional mountaineering skills and his ability to tackle challenging conditions at high altitudes. In recognition of his achievements and bravery, Kazi Sherpa was honored with the prestigious Khel Ratna award by the Government of Sikkim in 2014. Before conquering Everest, Kazi Sherpa had already proven his mettle by climbing various world-famous peaks. His list of conquests includes climbing Mt. Lako Khangje a virgin peak in 1997. He continued to add to his accomplishments with ascents of notable peaks like Panding Peak in Nepal, Tenzing Khang Peak in Sikkim, Papsura in Himachal Pradesh and Thilu Peak in Uttarakhand. His courage and bravery were further recognized by the Denzong Sherpa Association in 2015 by felicitated him. This acknowledgment underlines the respect and admiration he has garnered from his peers and the mountaineering community.

YANGDI SHERPA

Everester

Late Yangdi Sherpa is the first Sikkimese woman and the first woman from North East India to successfully scale Mount Everest on May 22, 2008. Her determination, courage, and dedication to mountaineering paved the way for women in the region to pursue their dreams and break barriers.

PHUR DEEKI SHERPA

National Kickboxer Champion

Miss Phur Deeki Sherpa is a national kickboxing player hailing from Latuk Village under District Pakyong, Sikkim. She has achieved significant success in her kickboxing career, showcasing her dedication and skill on various national platforms. With an impressive track record, she has secured a total of 6 gold medals, 5 silver medals, and a bronze medal in the national level WAKO Kickboxing Championships. Her consistent performance and exceptional talent have earned her a well-deserved opportunity to represent India on the international stage. Miss Phur Deeki Sherpa has been selected to compete in the WAKO World Championship, which includes both the Seniors and Masters categories. This prestigious event is scheduled to be held in Albufeira, Portugal from November 17th to 26th, 2023.

SHYAMA SHREE SHERPA

Actress/Dancer

Shyamashree Sherpa, hailing from Singtam, Sikkim, is a passionate individual with a deep love for the film industry. After completing her schooling at Tashi Namgyal Academy in Gangtok, Sikkim, she pursued Journalism and Mass Communication Honors at Shri Shikshayatan College, Calcutta. Seeking to enhance her skills, she obtained a diploma in Performing Arts from Kishore Namit Kapoor acting institute in Mumbai. Her journey in the film industry includes acting in television commercials, Hindi TV serials, Nepali films, web series, and music videos. She also had the opportunity to work in a Hindi TV serial produced by Jay Mehta Productions with a lead role in 53 episodes. Furthermore, she had the pleasure of working as a choreographer in Aditya Kriplani's Hindi feature film, "Tikli and Laxmi Bomb." This experience allowed her to fuse her passion for dance with her love for filmmaking. With experience spanning 8 years, Shyamashree has founded her own film production house named SaDa Productions. Rooted in journalism and performing arts, she aims to create meaningful and impactful content. Her journey is marked by diverse roles, including acting, choreography, and producing, showcasing her multifaceted talents. Shyamashree Sherpa's dedication and creativity promise to shape captivating narratives that resonate with audiences, making her a notable figure in the world of cinema.

PHURBA SHERPA

International Kickboxer cum Coach

Phurba Sherpa is an International Kickboxer cum coach from Sikkim. She won several Gold medal in different senior level national kickboxing championship. She also bagged Silver for India in the International kickboxing championship in Turkmenistan.

PEMA GYACHO SHERPA

International Taekwondo Player

Pema Gyacho Sherpa (International Taekwondo Player) was born and brought up in the hamlet of Purano Namchi, South Sikkim. He is the eldest son of Chitra Kala Rai and Nima Sangay Sherpa. He achieved remarkable success as a Taekwondo Player. His accomplishments showcase his dedication and skill in the sport, earning him numerous medals at various levels. National and International Achievements: In 2010, he participated in the Assam Guwahati Taekwondo Competition and won a gold medal in the sub-junior category, showcasing his talent at a young age. He continued to excel, winning a gold medal in the senior category at the Dehradun, Uttarakhand taekwondo competition, demonstrating his growth and skills as a taekwondo athlete. Pema Gyacho Sherpa's success extended to the national level with silver and bronze medals in the junior category in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, further solidifying his position as a rising star in the sport. He participated in the World Taekwondo Hangmadang in Pokhara, Nepal, competing in the senior category and earning two bronze medals, reflecting his competitiveness and commitment on an international platform. His international exposure also includes participating in the Kuala Lumpur event in 2014 and Kathmandu, Nepal event in 2017, indicating his dedication to competing at the global level.

PHUR KHANDU SHERPA

International Kickboxer

Phur Khandu Sherpa's achievements in kickboxing are truly impressive. Her dedication and hard work have led her to excel in various competitions and bring honor to our state Sikkim and the country. Winning multiple medals including 6 golds, 6 silvers, and 3 bronzes in the Wako Senior National Championship in Kickboxing till now showcase her consistent performance and skills in the sport. Her representation of India in the Wako Senior International Kickboxing Championship at Sarajevo, Bosnia in 2019 is a testament to her talent and capabilities on an international stage. Securing a silver medal in the Pro National Kickboxing Championship and a bronze medal in the Northeast Olympic Games held in Meghalaya in 2022 further highlight her prowess and determination.
