Shri Mingma Tshering Sherpa: First MLA from Sherpa Community in Sikkim

Shri Mingma Tshering Sherpa holds the distinction of being the first MLA (Member of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly) from the Sherpa community in Sikkim. His remarkable journey in Sikkim's political landscape began with his election to the Sikkim Legislative Assembly from Rakdong Tentek (BL) during the 1994 Sikkim Legislative Assembly election, representing the Sikkim Sangram Parishad (SSP). During his tenure, Shri Mingma Tshering Sherpa served as an MLA for three consecutive terms, effectively representing his constituency from 1994 to 2009. His commitment to public service and dedication to the welfare of his constituents led to a position of greater responsibility within the legislative body. From 2004 to 2009, he also served as the Deputy Speaker, contributing significantly to the governance and development of Sikkim.
